‘The View’ Episode Guide (Jan. 15): Congressman John Lewis; Common; Jordin Sparks

On today’s all-new episode of “The View” on ABC, the program celebrates the birthday of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with Congressman John Lewis of Georgia. Next, rapper Common discusses executive producing the new Showtime series “The Chi.”

Then, the mayor of Charlottesville, VA, Nikuyah Walker, visits the program. Plus, musician Jordin Sparks guest co-hosts today.

Last season, “The View” celebrated its historic 20th anniversary and was honored by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation with a Gracie Award. The show garnered five Daytime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Hosts, as well as a nomination for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team for the 43rd Annual People’s Choice Awards.

On election night, “The View” teamed up with Lifetime for “The View Live Election Special” with election-themed Hot Topics, interactive election activities and up-to-the-minute results from key battleground states. In October, “The View” will be inducted into the legendary Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.

Ms. Walters, “The View”’s creator and long-time executive producer and panelist, was inducted in 1993. Season to date, “The View” posted gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+2% – 2.816 million vs. 2.760 million), marking its most watched season in three years – since the 2013-14 season. “The View” also stands as the only broadcast daytime show to grow its overall audience from last season.
