‘The Goldbergs’ Episode Guide (April 13): Beverly Inadvertently Makes Adam Her Favorite Son

“Rush” (04/13/16) – When Beverly gives Adam a “best son” trophy, Barry brings to her attention that she always favors Adam. Appalled, Beverly decides to ignore Adam (much to his delight) and smother Barry (much to his dislike), but it backfires.

Meanwhile, Erica starts dating a boy who gets her to love the band Rush as much as he does and whom Murray doesn’t approve of, on “The Goldbergs,” WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13 (8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT) on the ABC Television Network.

Guest starring in this episode are Sean Marquette as Johnny Atkins, Tim Meadows as Mr. Gloscott, Sam Lerner as Geoff Schwartz, Matt Bush as Andy Cogan, Noah Munck as Naked Rob, Alex Jennings as Carla, Jennifer Irwin as Virginia Kremp and Rachel Leah Cohen as Hockey Mom.

“Rush” was written by Alex Barnow and directed by Beth McCarthy Miller.

The VCR-loving, mixtape-making, spandex-wearing Goldbergs are back! For geeky and movie obsessed youngest child Adam (Sean Giambrone), his wonder years were spent documenting the hilarious and awkward antics of his colorful family.

Mom, Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is at her best when she’s meddling, matchmaking and bedazzling her way through life, while Dad, Murray (Jeff Garlin), parents from the comfort of his recliner in his underpants. Oldest sister, Erica (Hayley Orrantia), dreams of being a Pop Star if she can only overcome her secret love of all things uncool. Then there’s middle child, Barry (Troy Gentile), who’s just as in touch with his emotions as he is with his sick rap skills, which is how he landed Erica’s best friend and the hottest girl in school, Lainey (AJ Michalka) as his girlfriend.

Rounding out the brood is beloved grandfather, Al “Pops” Solomon (George Segal), the wild man of the clan, a shameless Don Juan who enjoys family time with his grandkids almost as much as his weekly massages. This season finds the siblings fighting off huggies, snuggies, and nubbies as they navigate what it means to grow up as a Goldberg.

“The Goldbergs” stars Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Bridesmaids”) as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt (“Ratatouille”) as adult Adam Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile (“Good Luck Chuck”) as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia (“The X Factor”) as Erica Goldberg, AJ Michalka as Lainey Lewis (Super 8), with George Segal (“Just Shoot Me”) as Pops Solomon and Jeff Garlin (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) as Murray Goldberg.

“The Goldbergs” was written by Adam F. Goldberg (“Breaking In,” “Fanboys”). Executive producers are Adam F. Goldberg, Doug Robinson, Alex Barnow, Marc Firek, David Katzenberg and David Guarascio. “The Goldbergs” is produced by Adam Sandler and Doug Robinson’s Happy Madison TV and Adam F. Goldberg Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.
