‘The Chew’ Episode Guide (Jan. 8): Easy Calorie Cutting Tips; Charles Esten; Fast Food Healthy Makeover

On today’s all-new episode of “The Chew” on ABC, actor Charles Esten stops by the kitchen to cook up a meal with Carla Hall and to chat about the sixth and final season of CMT’s “Nashville.” Next, nutritionist Joy Bauer joins Clinton Kelly to share easy calorie-cutting tips.

And later, Michael Symon gives a fast-food favorite a healthy transformation.

Now in its seventh season celebrating and exploring life through food, the Emmy-winning informative talk show “The Chew” is an innovative and groundbreaking daytime program co-hosted by the Emmy-winning, dynamic group of engaging, fun, relatable experts in food, lifestyle and entertaining. “The Chew” serves up everything food – from cooking and home entertaining to food trends, restaurants, holidays and more – all aimed at making life better, fuller and more fun. Broadcast weekdays from New York City (1:00-2:00 p.m. ET), “The Chew” features celebrity chefs Michael Symon, Carla Hall and entertaining expert Clinton Kelly.

Michael Symon cooks with soul, having grown up in a Greek and Sicilian family. The Cleveland native shares his exuberant, approachable cooking style and infectious laugh with viewers not only on “The Chew,” but also as an Iron Chef on Food Network. He is the chef and owner of more than 18 restaurants, including Lola and Mabel’s BBQ in downtown Cleveland and Angeline at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City. He is also the author of several cookbooks, with his fifth due to hit stands in early 2018.

Carla Hall is best known as a competitor on Bravo’s “Top Chef,” where she won over audiences with her fun catch phrase, “Hootie hoo,” and her philosophy to always cook with love. Her cookbooks are “Carla’s Comfort Food: Favorite Dishes From Around the World” and “Cooking with Love: Comfort Food That Hugs You.” She is a true believer that, “If you’re not in a good mood, the only thing you should make is a reservation.”

Clinton Kelly is well known for hosting TLC’s wildly popular makeover show “What Not to Wear” for ten years. He is the author of five books, including his most recent compilation of personal essays, “I Hate Everyone, Except You.” He is a contributing editor for Woman’s Day magazine and designs a clothing line for QVC called Kelly by Clinton Kelly. He lives in New York City and Connecticut with his husband, Damon, and their Jack Russell terrier, Mary.

“The Chew” is executive produced by Gordon Elliott and Aimee Householder and produced by Gordon Elliott’s Chew Productions for The ABC Television Network. The show is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with stereo sound.
