‘Speechless’ Episode Guide (Oct. 5): Maya’s Plan at School Backfires

“B-O-N–BONFIRE” (10/05/16) – While JJ finds success at school with a group of friends, Maya forces the cancellation of the homecoming bonfire, concerned that the beach location is not wheelchair accessible.

Soon, the students speak out against JJ. But when Maya realizes she was wrong, the two stage a fake prank to encourage his classmates to have a change of heart. Meanwhile, Jimmy helps Ray settle into the new home, on “Speechless,” WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5 (8:30-9:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.

“B-O-N–BONFIRE” was written by Danny Chun and directed by Bill Purple.

Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver, “About a Boy,” “The Riches,” “Good Will Hunting”) is a mom on a mission who will do anything for her husband, Jimmy, and kids Ray, Dylan, and JJ, her eldest son with cerebral palsy. As Maya fights injustices both real and imagined, the family works to make a new home for themselves and searches for just the right person to give JJ his “voice.”

“Speechless” stars Minnie Driver as Maya DiMeo, John Ross Bowie (“The Big Bang Theory”) as Jimmy DiMeo, Mason Cook as Ray DiMeo, Micah Fowler as JJ DiMeo, Kyla Kenedy as Dylan DiMeo and Cedric Yarbrough as Kenneth. Guest starring are Marin Kinkle as Dr. Miller, Paul Bates as Older Cop, Darcy Shean a Fancy Woman, Daniel Zolghadri as Carter, Dina Spybey-Waters as Jennifer, Cyrus Deboo as Administrator, Skyler James as Kid, Jonathan Slavin as Mr. Powers, Jay Chandrasekhar as Coach, Lukita Maxwell as Jillian and Daniel Nelson as Zane.
