‘Speechless’ Episode Guide (March 8): Dylan’s Birthday Party Creates Tension

“S-U-R– SURPRISE!” (03/08/17) – Dylan asks Maya not to have their annual birthday party for her, but Maya holds an amazing surprise party anyway and soon learns the real reason why Dylan didn’t want to have a party.

Elsewhere, Ray is put in charge to watch JJ but panics when his brother has a day of independence at the mall to buy Dylan a birthday present while Jimmy and Kenneth struggle to find something they have in common, on “Speechless,” WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8 (8:30-9:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network.

Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver, “About a Boy,” “The Riches,” “Good Will Hunting”) is a mom on a mission who will do anything for her husband, Jimmy, and kids Ray, Dylan, and JJ, her eldest son with cerebral palsy. As Maya fights injustices both real and imagined, the family works to make a new home for themselves and searches for just the right person to give JJ his “voice.”

“Speechless” stars Minnie Driver as Maya DiMeo, John Ross Bowie (“The Big Bang Theory”) as Jimmy DiMeo, Mason Cook as Ray DiMeo, Micah Fowler as JJ DiMeo, Kyla Kenedy as Dylan DiMeo and Cedric Yarbrough as Kenneth. Guest starring are Marin Kinkle as Dr. Miller, Paul Bates as Older Cop, Darcy Shean a Fancy Woman, Daniel Zolghadri as Carter, Dina Spybey-Waters as Jennifer, Cyrus Deboo as Administrator, Skyler James as Kid, Jonathan Slavin as Mr. Powers, Jay Chandrasekhar as Coach, Lukita Maxwell as Jillian and Daniel Nelson as Zane.

Scott Silveri (“Friends”) writes and is executive producer of the show, along with “Fresh Off the Boat”’s Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar. The series is from Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC Studios.
