‘Motive’ Episode Guide (Aug. 27): Case From Cross and Flynn’s Past Resurfaces

“For You I Die” Season Finale (08/27/14) – With the League of Nations trial nearing, a major case from Detective Flynn and Sergeant Cross’s past resurfaces, and the fallout causes anguish for both. Meanwhile, the latest case involving the murder of a prosecutor becomes personal for Cross, and Angie knows they must come clean about their past, on the season finale of “Motive,” WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Motive” stars Kristin Lehman as Detective Angie Flynn, Louis Ferreira as Detective Oscar Vega, Brendan Penny as Detective Brian Lucas, Lauren Holly as Dr. Betty Rogers and Warren Christie as Sergeant Mark Cross.

“For You I Die” was written by James Thorpe and directed by Stefan Pleszczynski.

“Motive” returns for an exciting second season with gripping new cases featuring more complicated killers and intricate crime scenes. Turning the tried-and-true crime drama formula on its head, both the killer and the victim are introduced at the start of each episode. As the mystery unfolds, winding between revealing flashbacks and present time, viewers will navigate the twisted and complicated maze of each murder, solving the puzzle alongside Homicide Detective Angie Flynn and her team, piecing together more of the mysterious connections that drove the Killer to commit murder.

Angie is as determined as ever, and her pursuit for justice never falters. Her partner, Detective Oscar Vega, continues to be her rock with his no-nonsense attitude and methodical approach. Detective Brian Lucas is no longer the rookie at the station, a role he’s happy to hand over to the very keen and ambitious Officer Wendy Sung (Valerie Tian). While Lucas maintains his sincere and earnest attitude, he finds himself challenged as his personal and professional lives start to collide. Sung becomes an enthusiastic new colleague for Lucas, yet this new working relationship causes him to question his own values.

Confident and charismatic Sergeant Mark Cross (Warren Christie, “Apollo 18”), the bullpen’s new hands-on sergeant, shakes up the station when he joins the team. He and Angie share a mysterious and strained connection, one she would prefer to leave in the past. The tension leads to a breakdown in trust between Angie and Vega, and Angie realizes she must find a way to work with Cross, even if it means confronting the truth and the secret that drove them apart years ago.

“Motive” was created by Daniel Cerone (“Dexter,” “The Mentalist”), who executive-produces the show along with Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam, James Thorpe and Dennis Heaton. Developed by CTV, the series is produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with Bell Media, and distributed by NBCUniversal International.
