‘Modern Family’ Episode Guide (Oct. 22): The Dunphys Meet Obnoxious Potential Neighbors

“Won’t You Be Our Neighbor” (10/22/14) – Phil is selling the house next door and he and Claire are excited by the prospect of having wonderful new neighbors, but that quickly turns into panic when a loud and obnoxious couple (guest stars Steve Zahn and Andrea Anders) come to look at the house.

Jay forbids Manny to see his new girlfriend when he realizes she’s the granddaughter of his biggest business rival, leading to a clash of the closet titans. Elsewhere, Mitch and Cam are determined to switch Lily out of Mrs. Plank’s (guest star Tyne Daly) class since she is known to rule with an iron fist – not to mention she scares them too, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Guest starring are Tyne Daly as Mrs. Plank, Steve Zahn as Ronnie, Andrea Anders as Amber, Ben Lawson as George, Fiona Gubelmann as Lisa, Matt Besser as Jerry, Jon Polito as Earl Chambers, Brooke Sorenson as Tammy, Finneas O’Connell as RJ, Cheyn Cole as Sophie and Raegan Revord as Megan.

“Won’t You Be Our Neighbor” was written by Paul Corrigan & Brad Walsh, and directed by Gail Mancuso.

Critically lauded for revitalizing the television sitcom, “Modern Family” is also quickly cementing itself as a culturally defining series. The recipient of a record five consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, tying the Emmy record previous set by “Frasier,” and a Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Television Series, “Modern Family” returns to the ABC Television Network for its sixth season.

The Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan is a wonderfully large and blended family with Jay Pritchett sitting at the head. By his side is his vivacious, younger second wife Gloria, and together they are navigating life with a new baby, Joe, and Gloria’s teenage son Manny, who has taken to high school with the same charm and gusto he’s had since he was little. Meanwhile, Jay’s grown daughter, Claire, and her husband, Phil, are trying to keep up as their kids grow up right before their eyes with the youngest, Luke, now a sophomore in high school; middle daughter, Alex, is graduating this year and looking at colleges, and eldest, Haley, is living at home and pursuing a career. Then there’s Claire’s brother and Jay’s grown son, Mitchell, who just married his longtime love Cameron. Both are enjoying life as newlyweds and raising their sassy adopted six-year-old daughter Lily. These three families are unique unto themselves, and together they give us an honest and often hilarious look into the sometimes warm, sometimes twisted, embrace of the modern family.

“Modern Family” stars Ed O’Neill as Jay Pritchett, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Sofía Vergara as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker, Sarah Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy, Ariel Winter as Alex Dunphy, Rico Rodriguez as Manny Delgado and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily Tucker-Pritchett.

The series is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television in association with Picador Productions and Steven Levitan Prods. Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd are co-creators/executive producers. Danny Zuker, Paul Corrigan, Brad Walsh, Abraham Higginbotham, Jeffrey Richman and Jeff Morton also serve as executive producers.
