‘Madam Secretary’ Episode Guide (Oct. 29): Sec. McCord Tries to End a Government Shutdown

“Shutdown” (10/29/17) – As the government shutdown shows no sign of progress, Secretary of State McCord must negotiate an agreement between the White House and its opposition led by Senator Morejon (José Zúñiga).

Also, Elizabeth is having trouble finding a suitable replacement for the chief of staff position, on “Madam Secretary,” Sunday, Oct. 29 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Guest starring in this episode are Christopher O’Shea (Jareth Glover), José Zúñiga (Senator Carlos Morejon), Sam Breslin Wright (Dylan Larsen), Lolita Foster (Janine), Andy Lucien (Ben), Geoff Packard (Reporter), Anthony Alessandro (Angelo Bianchi), Nikki Reneé Daniels (News Journalist), Suni Reyes (Aide), and Adrienne Lovette (Honduran Woman).

“Shutdown” was written by Joy Gregory and directed by Felix Alcala.

CBS’s “Madam Secretary” stars Téa Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, the shrewd, determined Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home.

A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returned to public life at the request of President Conrad Dalton, who values McCord’s apolitical leanings, deep knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages and ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box. McCord’s team includes chief of staff Nadine Tolliver; policy advisor Jay Whitman; speechwriter Matt Mahoney; press coordinator Daisy Grant; and charming assistant, Blake Moran.

As McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the president’s combative chief of staff, Russell Jackson, that’s just a warm-up for when she goes home to her supportive husband, theology professor turned intelligence operative Henry, and their three children, where “politics” and “compromise” take on new meaning.

“Madam Secretary” stars Téa Leoni (Elizabeth McCord), Tim Daly (Henry McCord), Bebe Neuwirth (Nadine Tolliver), Željko Ivanek (Russell Jackson), Keith Carradine (President Conrad Dalton), Sebastian Arcelus (Jay Whitman), Patina Miller (Daisy Grant), Geoffrey Arend (Matt Mahoney), Erich Bergen (Blake Moran), Kathrine Herzer (Alison McCord), Wallis Currie-Wood (Stephanie “Stevie” McCord), and Evan Roe (Jason McCord).

“Madam Secretary” is produced by CBS Television Studios, in association with Revelations Entertainment. It is executive produced by Barbara Hall, Lori McCreary, David Grae, Eric Stoltz and Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman. The series was created by Barbara Hall.
