‘Madam Secretary’ Episode Guide (Oct. 8): Elizabeth Grows Suspicious About Timor-Leste’s President

“News Cycle” Season 4 Premiere (10/08/17) – When the assistant vice minister of Timor-Leste suddenly dies during a meeting with Elizabeth on the first day of the U.N General Assembly, she becomes suspicious after the president of Timor-Leste ships the body back without a proper investigation.

Also, a “fake news” story surfaces claiming Elizabeth is responsible for the minister’s death, and Dmitri returns to work with Henry, on the fourth season premiere of “Madam Secretary,” Sunday, Oct. 8 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Morgan Freeman returns as Chief Justice Wilbourne.

Guest starring in “News Cycle” are Francis Jue (Chinese Foreign Minister Chen), Michael Gaston (CIA Director Hugh Haymond), Masha King (Talia Petrov), José Zúñiga (Senator Carlos Morejon), Tzi Ma (President Miguel Da Silva), Raul Aranas (Rogerio Bento), Clark Jackson (Interrogator), Emma Factor (Lucinda), Karl Kenzler (Marty Hawk), Midori Nakamura (Ana Bento), Joey Parsons (Reporter # 1), Tom White (Reporter # 2), Kent Shocknek (News Anchor), and Duarte Geraldino (News Anchor # 2).

“News Cycle” was written by Barbara Hall and directed by Morgan Freeman.

CBS’s “Madam Secretary” stars Téa Leoni as Elizabeth McCord, the shrewd, determined Secretary of State who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home.

A college professor and a brilliant former CIA analyst who left for ethical reasons, Elizabeth returned to public life at the request of President Conrad Dalton, who values McCord’s apolitical leanings, deep knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages and ability to not just think outside the box, but to not even acknowledge there is a box. McCord’s team includes chief of staff Nadine Tolliver; policy advisor Jay Whitman; speechwriter Matt Mahoney; press coordinator Daisy Grant; and charming assistant, Blake Moran.

As McCord debates third world problems, finesses foreign dignitaries at work and does battle with the president’s combative chief of staff, Russell Jackson, that’s just a warm-up for when she goes home to her supportive husband, theology professor turned intelligence operative Henry, and their three children, where “politics” and “compromise” take on new meaning.

“Madam Secretary” stars Téa Leoni (Elizabeth McCord), Tim Daly (Henry McCord), Bebe Neuwirth (Nadine Tolliver), Željko Ivanek (Russell Jackson), Keith Carradine (President Conrad Dalton), Sebastian Arcelus (Jay Whitman), Patina Miller (Daisy Grant), Geoffrey Arend (Matt Mahoney), Erich Bergen (Blake Moran), Kathrine Herzer (Alison McCord), Wallis Currie-Wood (Stephanie “Stevie” McCord), and Evan Roe (Jason McCord).

“Madam Secretary” is produced by CBS Television Studios, in association with Revelations Entertainment. It is executive produced by Barbara Hall, Lori McCreary, David Grae, Eric Stoltz and Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman. The series was created by Barbara Hall.
