Lee Daniels’ ‘Star’ to Begin Production in December

“Star,” the new pilot from Lee Daniels – creator and executive producer of broadcast’s No. 1 series “Empire” – will begin production this December in Atlanta, GA.

The pilot, from 20th Century Fox Television, is written, directed and executive-produced by Daniels. Tom Donaghy (“The Whole Truth”) will serve as a writer and executive producer on the pilot with Daniels.

An international casting search is underway for the series talent, including three female leads who will play three young artists, all with hopes of making it big. “Star” will feature the choices with which these artists are faced along the way, while showcasing the allure and heartache of the cut-throat music scene, and exploring cultural themes from a new perspective. What will they do to rise to the top?
