‘Hawaii Five-0’ Episode Guide (Jan. 12): A Man Accused of Killing His Wife Threatens to Commit Suicide

“O ka mea ua hala, ua hala ia.” (01/12/18) – When a man accused of killing his wife threatens to commit suicide, Grover reveals how he too was once on the brink of taking his own life, on “Hawaii Five-0,” Friday, Jan. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Chi McBride appears in a PSA for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at the end of the episode.

(“O ka mea ua hala, ua hala ia.” is Hawaiian for “What is Gone is Gone.”)

Guest starring in “O ka mea ua hala, ua hala ia” are Devon Sawa (Brad Woodward), Aaron Yoo (Hideki Tashiro), J. Downing (John Lefotu), Kenric Green (Detective Keegan), Stephanie Anne Lewis (Therapist Voice), Darah Dung (Driver #2), Renata Guarana (Clara Molina), Quinton Ray (10 Year Old Will Grover), and Kate Tobia (Tracy Woodward).

“O ka mea ua hala, ua hala ia” was written by Sean O’Reilly and directed by Roderick Davis.

“Hawaii Five-0” is a contemporary take on the classic series about an elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime that washes up on the islands’ sun-drenched beaches. Detective Steve McGarrett, a decorated Naval officer turned cop, returned to Oahu after Hawaii’s former governor persuaded him to head up the new team: his rules, no red tape and full blanket authority to hunt down the biggest “game” in town.

Joining McGarrett are Detective Danny “Danno” Williams, a relocated ex-New Jersey cop who is committed to keeping the islands safe for his children; Captain Lou Grover, who formerly headed Hawaii’s SWAT unit; Jerry Ortega, the islands’ local conspiracy theorist; and Tani Rey, a bold, recent police academy graduate. Helping them is Adam Noshimuri, a friend with old ties to a deadly crime family; Junior Reigns, a former SEAL who comes to McGarrett looking for a job; Kamekona, a local entrepreneur who has his pulse on the Island; Sgt. Duke Lukela, a trusted member of the HPD; and medical examiner Dr. Noelani Cunha.

The state’s brash FIVE-0 unit, who may spar and jest among themselves, remain determined to eliminate the seedy elements from the 50th state.

“Hawaii Five-0” stars Alex O’Loughlin (Steve McGarrett), Scott Caan (Danny “Danno” Williams), Chi McBride (Lou Grover), Jorge Garcia (Jerry Ortega), and Meaghan Rath (Tani Rey).
