‘Dateline NBC’ Episode Guide (Aug. 8): Rebecca Musser on Escaping the Life of Polygamy

“Unbreakable” (08/08/14) – Rebecca Musser speaks out for the first time about being born into The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, what made her leave the polygamous sect, and her fight for justice against church leader Warren Jeffs, one of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives.

At the age of 19, Musser entered an arranged marriage with the church’s 85-year-old prophet. After receiving threats from Jeffs, she fled the sect in 2002, and ultimately became a key witness in exposing secrets and crimes within the religion. Musser shares riveting details from her book, The Witness Wore Red and says of the church, “if that is holy and that is divine and that is heaven … I will take hell.”

This story originally was reported by Keith Morrison on “Dateline NBC” in September 2013.
