CBS ’60 Minutes’ Episode Guide (Aug. 24): The Data Broker Industry; Endangered Humpack Whale

The following are the listings of investigative reports set to air on tonight’s (August 24, 2014) episode of “60 Minutes,” airing from 7:00-8:00PM EST on CBS:

The Data Brokers – Steve Kroft investigates the private companies that collect, analyze and sell the personal information of millions of Americans, much of it gleaned from their online searches, credit card purchases and government records. Graham Messick and Maria Gavrilovic are the producers.

Three Years Later – Bob Simon reports on the aftermath of the disaster in Fukushima, Japan, when the triple tragedy of an earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident turned the area into a toxic ghost town frozen in time. David Schneider is the producer.

Return of the Humpbacks – Scott Pelley reports on two very different ways two individuals are going about trying to save the endangered humpback whale. Robert Anderson and Daniel Ruetenik are the producers.

“60 Minutes,” the most successful television broadcast in history, began its 46th season on Sept. 29, 2013. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast begun in 1968 is still a hit in 2011, regularly making Nielsen’s Top 10. The average audience for a “60 Minutes” broadcast still dwarfs the biggest audiences drawn by cable news programs.

“60 Minutes” correspondents include Anderson Cooper, Steve Kroft, Sanjay Gupta, Lara Logan, Norah O’Donnell, Scott Pelley, Charlie Rose, Morley Safer, Bob Simon and Lesley Stahl.
