CBS ’60 Minutes’ Episode Guide (Aug. 17): High-Speed Stock Market Trading; The New Yorker Cartoons

The following are the listings of investigative reports set to air on tonight’s (August 17, 2014) episode of “60 Minutes,” airing from 7:00-8:00PM EST on CBS:

Rigged – Steve Kroft reports on a new book from Michael Lewis that reveals how a group of unlikely characters discovered how some high-speed traders work the stock market to their advantage. Draggan Mihailovich is the producer.

The Health Wagon – Scott Pelley reports on nurse practitioners who are providing badly needed healthcare to the uninsured working poor in Appalachia. Henry Schuster and Rachel Kun Morehouse are the producers.

The Cartoonist – The New Yorker lets “60 Minutes” cameras into the weekly process of picking the magazine’s famous cartoons. Morley Safer interviews the cartoonists, their editor, Bob Mankoff, and The New Yorker Editor David Remnick. David Browning and Jonathan Schienberg are the producers.

“60 Minutes,” the most successful television broadcast in history, began its 46th season on Sept. 29, 2013. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast begun in 1968 is still a hit in 2011, regularly making Nielsen’s Top 10. The average audience for a “60 Minutes” broadcast still dwarfs the biggest audiences drawn by cable news programs.

“60 Minutes” correspondents include Anderson Cooper, Steve Kroft, Sanjay Gupta, Lara Logan, Norah O’Donnell, Scott Pelley, Charlie Rose, Morley Safer, Bob Simon and Lesley Stahl.
