‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Episode Guide (Oct. 18): Jake and Holt Investigate Serial Killer

“The Oolong Slayer” (10/18/15) – When investigating a serial killer, Jake enlists Holt’s help in an attempt to solve the case off the radar.

At the precinct, Rosa and Amy are forced to deal with demands from an old adversary and Terry discovers a new obsession in an all-new episode of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” airing Sunday, Oct. 18 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Returning for its third season this fall, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” follows Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), a talented, but carefree, detective and his case-cracking colleagues in the 99th precinct of the NYPD, led by their by-the-book commanding officer Captain Holt (Andre Braugher).

The series, from Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation”), won the 2014 Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Samberg). Braugher recently earned a 2015 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, in addition to his 2014 nomination in the same category.

Working alongside Jake is Holt’s second-in-command, Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), a linebacker of a man and father to twin baby girls, with another on the way. Also working cases in Brooklyn’s 99th are Detective Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero), the unit’s honorary straight arrow, for whom Jake has confessed his “romantic-styles” affection.

Meanwhile, Detective Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) had long pined for the tough, sexy and scary-as-hell Detective Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz), but now they share a comfortably platonic friendship as Rosa is dating Holt’s nephew, Marcus (guest star Nick Cannon).

In an unusual twist of fate, Boyle became stepbrother to civilian assistant Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti), when their parents married. Rounding out the precinct’s staff are veteran officers Detective Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) and Detective Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker). Unproductive and inept, the pair may not solve many cases, but they make an amazing pot of coffee. Additional guest stars include Kyra Sedgwick as Deputy Chief Madeline Wuntch, Holt’s superior and longtime nemesis.

Season Two ended with major changes, as Holt was ousted from the precinct to head up the NYPD public relations department, taking Gina with him. The squad anxiously awaits their brand-new captain and Jake and Amy finally shared a real kiss. Noice!

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is produced by Universal Television, 3 Arts Entertainment and Fremulon. The series is created and written by Dan Goor (“Parks and Recreation,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”) and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation,” “The Office”). The series is executive-produced by Goor, Schur and David Miner (“30 Rock”). The pilot was directed by the team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”).
