‘American Ninja Warrior’ Episode Guide (July 3): Kansas City Qualifiers

“Kansas City Qualifiers” (07/03/17) – Kansas City, Missouri is the next stop for competitors to give it their all on the “American Ninja Warrior” obstacle course. Competitors face six challenging obstacles in the city qualifier, including three new obstacles: Hang Glider, Broken Pipes and Crank It Up.

“American Ninja Warrior” veterans Lance Pekus, Brandon Mears and Dan Polizzi return, while Olympic decathlete Jeremy Taiwo takes on the course for the first time. Competitors will vie for a chance to win a cash prize of $1,000,000 and the title “American Ninja Warrior.”

“American Ninja Warrior” returns for its ninth season this summer and its sixth full season on NBC.

Matt Iseman returns as host, along with Akbar Gbajabiamila and co-host Kristine Leahy.

The action-packed series follows competitors as they tackle a series of challenging obstacle courses in both city qualifying and city finals rounds across the country. Those that successfully complete the finals course in their designated region move on to the national finals round in Las Vegas, where they face a stunning four-stage course modeled after the famed Mt. Midoriyama course in Japan. The winner will take home a grand prize of $1 million.

New obstacles and several new cities await our competitors in their continuing quest for physical excellence. This season hundreds of competitors will test their skills to see if they can make history and join Isaac Caldiero, who became the show’s first winner in season seven.

This season the show will make stops in Los Angeles, Calif.; San Antonio, Texas; Daytona Beach, Fla.; Kansas City, Mo.; Cleveland, Ohio; and Denver, Colo., before heading to Las Vegas for the national finals.

Based on the global hit “Sasuke,” from the Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, the original series is now in its 33rd season in Japan.

The series is executive-produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions’ founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed (“Hell’s Kitchen,” “Wizard Wars,” “Ellen’s Design Challenge”), along with Brian Richardson and Anthony Storm.
