‘ABC 20/20’ Episode Guide (July 14): Update on O.J. Simpson’s Upcoming Parole Hearing

“20/20” (07/14/17) – After serving almost nine years in prison, will O.J. Simpson, one of the most famous criminals in America, be set free? Days before his parole hearing, “20/20” presents a special hour on the armed robbery of memorabilia dealers that landed Simpson in jail, featuring interviews with Simpson’s closest friends who reveal information about that fateful night and the fallen football legend, airing FRIDAY, JULY 14 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

Correspondent Deborah Roberts reports from the Las Vegas hotel where the crime happened with Michael McClinton, one of Simpson’s accomplices who pulled out a gun during the robbery in one of the rooms. The report also includes security footage of the moments leading up to and right after the robbery, audio recordings from the night of the robbery and interviews with Charlie Ehrlich, one of Simpson’s accomplices sentenced to probation; CJ Stewart, one of Simpson’s accomplices who served time with him; Walter Alexander, one of Simpson’s accomplices who testified against him; Doc Johnson, Simpson’s longtime friend; Tom Scotto, Simpson’s friend who was getting married in Las Vegas the weekend of the robbery; Norman Pardo, Simpson’s former manager and friend; Yale Galanter, Simpson’s attorney at his 2008 trial; and Jeffrey Felix, one of Simpson’s former prison guards.

More than a decade after being acquitted of the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in what some call the trial of the century, Simpson found himself in trouble with the law again. Simpson was attending a friend’s wedding in Las Vegas when he stole collectibles from Bruce Fromong and Alfred Beardsley. Simpson was arrested for the botched robbery and sentenced to up to 33 years in prison. Some believe that the long sentence is retribution for his acquittal in the murders of Brown Simpson and Goldman, which the judge denied during her sentencing of Simpson.

“20/20” is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
